Pamir Highway

Pamir Highway is a road traversing the Pamir Mountains through Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia. It is the only continuous route through the difficult terrain of the mountains and serves as the main supply route to Tajikistan's Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region. Travellers enjoy the great view of Lake Karakol, crater lake near the Kyrgyz and Chinese Border along Pamir Highway it is frozen half the year.


Dushanbe 

Dushanbe is the capital of Tajikistan.Situated at the confluence of two rivers, Varzob and Kofarnihon. Although archaeological remnants dating to the 5th century BC have been discovered in the area, there is little to suggest that Dushanbe was more than a small village until the early 20th century. Coal, lead, and arsenic are mined nearby in the cities of Nurek and Kulob allowing for the industrialization of Dushanbe. Among the attractions that can be found here is the Tajikistan National Museum is a museum in Dushanbe, the capital city of Tajikistan.

Pamir

The Pamir mountains, or Pamirs, are in south eastern Tajikistan, near the border with Afghanistan.It is a mountain range in Central Asia formed by the junction or knot of the Himalayas, Tian Shan, Karakoram, Kunlun, and Hindu Kush ranges.Coal is mined in the west, though sheep herding in upper meadowlands are the primary source of income for the region. Lake Karakol is its main attraction.

Wakhan Valley

Wakhan Valley is a very mountainous and rugged part of the Pamir and Karakoram regions of Tajikistan. Historically the Wakhan has been an important region for thousands of years as it is where the Western and Eastern portions of Central Asia meet. Western Wakhan (Xiumi) was conquered in the early part of the 1st century CE by Kujula Kadphises, the first "Great Kushan," and was one of the five xihou or principalities that formed the nucleus of the original Kushan kingdom. Most travellers visit the Wakhan District a district in Badakshan Province.

Isfara 

Isfara is a city in Sughd Province in northern Tajikistan, situated on the border with Kyrgyzstan. Isfara is one of the oldest ancient towns in Central Asia, its first name was Asbara. The town is mentioned in Tabari's history from the 10th century, when it was an important stop on the northern branch of the Silk Road. Some 20 industrial companies in Isfara produce electrical equipment, chemical and metallurgical products, construction materials, food products and others. Isfara is famous for its apricot orchards.

Penjikent

Penjikent is a city in the Sughd province of Tajikistan on the Zeravshan River, with a population of 33,000 (2000 census). Ancient Panjekent was a small but flourishing town of the Soghdians in pre-Islamic Central Asia. It served as the capital of Panch and was known as Panchekanth. It was once an ancient town in Sogdiana. The ruins of the old town are on the outskirts of the modern city. Visitors are amazed by Ancient Panjakent. The archaeological site of the ruins of old Penjikent - a walled inter-city which stood 2500-years ago - was once a Sogdian trading city on the Silk Road. Today, only ruins are left owing to the fact that the main construction material was clay-bricks.

Yurt Stays

Yurt stays is a portable, bent wood-framed dwelling structure traditionally used by Turkic nomads in the steppes of Central Asia. Yurts have been in use at least since the 13th century, and there are indications that the design is much older.

Istaravshan

Located in the northern foothills of the Turkistan mountain range, 78 kilometers southwest of Khujand, Istaravshan is one of the oldest cities in Tajikistan, having existed for more than 2500 years. The accompanying 1923 map of gives the location of the ancient city of Cyropolis as being a very close approximation to that of modern day Istaravshan. Istaravshan is an old city home to the well known and beautiful Abdullatif Madrassah and Mosque. You can easily visit Istaravshan as either a day trip from Khojand or as an overnight stop en route to Dushanbe.

Zeravshan

Located in the Kyzylkum desert, it receives water from the Amudarya by a 220-km pipeline. The area is famous for its unique mountain landscapes and its beautiful lakes: the Alauddin lakes, the Kulikalon lakes, Iskanderkul Lake, the seven lakes of Shing among many others.

Fann Mountains

Fann Mountains is located in Tajikistan's Sughd Province between the Zeravshan Range to the north and the Gissar Range to the south. Since the Fann Mountains cover a relatively small area intended to develop such trekking route, which can make possible to visit as many as possible of most significant natural sights in the limit of couple of weeks. There are many lakes in the Fanns. The best known are Alaudin lakes in the Chapdara River valley, Kulikalon lakes on the northern slope of Chimtarga peak, Allo Lake, and the most outstanding of all Iskanderkul Lake.
